Uganda - Planifolia Vanilla Beans

Uganda - Planifolia Vanilla Beans are grown on small plots by numerous independent farmers. These vanilla beans, although smaller than most, are extremely rich in flavor. This area of Uganda formerly had many British vanilla plantations, but the Adi Amin regime caused tremendous damage to life and property there and ultimately the plantations were abandoned. Now, revitalized, they are producing sensational beans once again. 

Our friend, who does all the curing in his facility just outside the capital city of Kampala, supports many farming families.

Growing elevation:  600-1800 meters

Tasting notes:  bold, fruity rich vanilla aroma with subtle notes of figs and raisins
